CURATORS
COLLECTIVE FOR ARCHITECTURE (CAL)
Established in Beirut in 2019 by Shereen Doummar, Edouard Souhaid, Elias Tamer, and Lynn Chamoun, CAL is a non-profit fostering cross disciplinary dialogue in architecture, design, and urban planning. It promotes innovative research and critical discourse through events, publications, and collaborations.

GREEN SOUTHERNERS (GS)
Founded in 2014 in Tyre by Dr. Hisham Younes, GS is Lebanon’s first NGO to adopt rewilding principles, focusing on South Lebanon’s ecosystem restoration and wildlife conservation. It also monitors and documents environmental damage, including the use of white phosphorus, while empowering communities through education and advocacy.
RHEA KAHALE
Born in Lebanon, Rhea holds a master’s degree in Environmental Science and Management from Saint Joseph University of Beirut and specializes in biodiversity conservation. She works with Jouzour Loubnan, designing strategies for ecological restoration and sustainable land use.
MAGDA BOU DAGHER KHARRAT
Born in Lebanon, Magda earned her Ph.D. in Plant Genetics from Sorbonne University and is a biodiversity conservation researcher. She co-founded Jouzour Loubnan and works with the European Forest Institute, focusing on Mediterranean forest restoration and climate change adaptation.
KARIM EMILE BITAR
Born in Lebanon, Karim is a professor and researcher in international relations, affiliated with institutions such as Université Saint- Joseph and IRIS in Paris. He frequently testifies on foreign policy and is an alumnus of Sciences Po and McGill University.
MOHAMED CHOUCAIR
Beirut-born and Milan-based, Mohamed is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in film and audio, co-founder of the Ballroom Blitz music venue, and performer under the moniker Bakisa. His work spans clubs, festivals, and collaborations with cultural institutions like MoMA and the Venice Biennale.
DR. RAMI ZURAYK
Born in Lebanon, Dr. Zurayk is a professor at the American University of Beirut and an expert in food security and political ecology. He has contributed to global initiatives, such as the EAT-Lancet Commission, and advocates for sustainable agriculture in the Arab world.
ADIB DADA
Born in Lebanon, Adib is an architect and environmental activist who founded theOtherDada, focusing on biomimicry and rewilding urban spaces. He leads theOtherForest initiative, planting native forests across Lebanon to promote ecological and social regeneration.
SARAH SINNO
Born in Beirut in 1989, Sarah is an environmental advocate and founder of the Earth Preservation Project. She raises awareness about environmental justice and decolonization through workshops, research, and storytelling.
PUBLIC WORKS STUDIO
Founded in 2012 in Lebanon by Abir Saksouk and Nadine Bekdache, Public Works is a multidisciplinary studio addressing urban planning and public issues. It combines research and design to challenge conventional policymaking.
LEILA DARWISH
Leila, based in Canada, is an environmental justice advocate specializing in bioremediation and disaster recovery. She authored Earth Repair and works to empower communities facing environmental and climate challenges.
AUDE ABOU NASR
Born in Beirut, Aude is an illustrator and multidisciplinary artist exploring memory, identity, and migration. Her work, featured in global publications and exhibitions, highlights resilience and transformation in Middle Eastern narratives.
MUNIRA KHAYYAT
Born in Lebanon, Munira is an anthropologist researching war ecologies and empire. She authored A Landscape of War and is working on a book about oil and empire, blending personal archives with feminist theory.
JALA MAKHZOUMI
Born in Iraq, Jala is an award-winning landscape architect and ecological planner. She pioneers sustainable urban greening and postwar recovery, holding leadership roles in global and regional environmental organizations.
